| Ladies’ Lawn Bowls
|
Sutton Bowling Club has a
thriving and successful ladies’ outdoor section. We have nearly 100
lady members whose abilities range from novice lawn bowlers to top
Surrey players.
We are affiliated to Bowls England,
Surrey County Women’s Bowling Association, Sutton & District
Ladies’ Bowling Association, East Surrey League and Smith’s Trophy
League. We enter the National ‘Top Club’ Competition and normally
enter two teams in the Past Times Trophy.
A ladies’
ballot is organised on Monday afternoons and there are mixed ballots
on Wednesday evenings and Friday afternoons. Our ballots are very
popular as they are a valuable way to gain experience and to get to
know fellow club members.
We have a full and varied
fixture list comprising friendly matches - ladies and mixed. Then
there are league games and club representative games like the Top
Club Competition and Past Times Trophy. For the competitive minded
there is ample scope to take part in competitions: Surrey, Sutton
& District and Club.
LATEST
REPRESENTATIVE MATCH RESULTS The ladies team has got off
to a very good start by winning their first five matches all away
from home to make them the County Chamipions in the
National Top Ten Competition. Latest victory was on a count
back after winning the pairs and triples and losing the
singles and the fours at Knaphill on Saturday 19 July.
On Saturday 5 July the team won on all four rinks at Egham. On
Saturday 21 June the team won two rinks and Milford won two rinks
but Sutton won the count back by four shots. Previously, Sutton won
3 rinks to 1 at Cheam and at Oxshott.
Although we
have a large membership, we are a happy, friendly club and new
members are quickly integrated into our special club
atmosphere.
With two greens and among the best facilities
of any lawn bowling club in Surrey our aim is to accommodate all
members, at whatever level of bowls they wish to play. New and
experienced bowlers are always welcome.
