| Men’s Indoor Bowls |
The Men’s Indoor Club has some 350 members, all at varying levels of competition and ability. There is a strong focus on internal league bowling with some leagues proving to be highly competitive. However, no matter your particular level, you will find the atmosphere friendly and encouraging. League teams play in mornings, afternoons and evenings during the week, and in the mornings at weekends; teams can be entered for the Sunday evening rinks league which includes a number of outdoor clubs. There are lots of opportunities for everyone; and there is rarely any problem in joining a league team. New members will always be made welcome.
There is an extensive programme of inter-club matches that include friendlies and Surrey County League games. Sutton Indoor Bowling Club usually finishes in the top echelons of that League. In addition, the Club takes part in various County and National competitions, including the national inter-club Denny Cup, the over 60s and London & Southern Counties competitions. In 2007, the Club reached the last 16 of the National Denny Plate competition.
On an individual basis, members are encouraged to enter Club, County and National competitions. Whilst success in external competitions, in recent years, has been sparse, one of our Triples won the Surrey event in 2007; another reached the Area Final of the National Triples in 2008.
Sutton Indoor Bowling Club has much to offer. Other clubs in the County may have more strength in-depth, and may, more readily, reach the later stages of national competitions, but we believe that that is not the be all and end all of bowling. There is a great deal of camaraderie at Sutton, combined with good quality bowling and excellent facilities on the doorstep.
