Sutton Bowls Club

Men’s Club 90th Anniversary Tour

Bournemouth  9th – 14th September 2018

UPDATE   June 2018

Accommodation at the four star Hermitage Hotel on BB & EM basis in a standard inland room with entertainment on Monday and Wednesday evening:-

On the 9th of September we plan to leave the club around 12.30 pm and travel to Bournemouth to arrive at the hotel by around 3pm.  We are not planning any stops other than comfort breaks if required and we will have tea and coffee on arrival at the hotel.  We will be assisted with the luggage, which will be taken to our rooms, so bags must be clearly labelled with your names.  The rest of the day is left clear to settle in and familiarise yourself with the hotel and surroundings. Most evening dining will be as a group at set times on round tables in the restaurant area to accommodate around 8 – 10 people and clearly you can choose to sit with whoever you wish as there is no table plan. The last evening will be in a private dining area.

The matches have been selected to provide a range of locations and also some interest for those not bowling who may want to “tag along”.  All the matches are 6 mixed rinks in whites, so “theoretically” you only need two woods.  All will have tea and biscuits provided, either at half time or at the end of the match

Monday 10th September – We are playing the Bournemouth and District Bowling Association at Richmond Park BC.

This is a local venue only a short journey from the hotel so an easy ride out and a gentle introduction to the tour!

Tuesday 11th September – We are travelling to Brockenhurst BC in the New Forest area.

It is about a 40 minute pleasant drive and the green is in the Brockenhurst town.

Wednesday 12th September – we travel to West Moors Memorial BC which is about a 30 minute drive from the hotel.

The area around the club is mainly residential.

Thursday 13th September – today we are playing Swanage BC which about one hour journey from the hotel.

We expect most people may want to spend some time in Swanage, so we have arranged an early coach departure allowing everyone free time in Swanage before the match.  The coach will then take the bowlers and spectators to the club (about 5 mins in coach) whilst the others can spend more time in Swanage to be taken to the club later in the afternoon. The coach drop of point in Swanage town centre is a 5 – 10 minute walk to the sea front and shops.

Friday 14th September – This is our last day but we have a morning match at Boscombe Cliff BC at 10.00 am – even with hangovers!

After the match we will be collecting those not at the club and stopping asap for lunch (location still to be finalised) before making the journey back to Sutton to hopefully arrive early to mid evening.
